IN-VEHICLE REPAIR

Flywheel


Special Tool(s)
Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) and Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) software with appropriate hardware, or equivalent scan tool

Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Section 100-02 .
  1. Remove the clutch. For additional information, refer to Section 308-01 .
  1. NOTE: The dual mass flywheel normally has up to a total of 14 degrees (6.5 ring gear teeth) maximum rotational freeplay between the primary (bolted to crankshaft) and the secondary mass (clutch disc face).

    Remove the bolts and the dual mass flywheel.

Installation

  1. NOTE: One of the 8 flywheel holes are offset so the flywheel can only be installed in one position.

    Install the dual mass flywheel and the 8 bolts and tighten in sequence shown.
  1. Install the clutch. For additional information, refer to Section 308-01 .
  1. After completing the repairs, use the scan tool to perform the Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction procedure following the on-screen instructions.
