The indicated position of the transmission selector lever is transferred to the transmission through the transmission selector lever cable and down to the manual control lever on the transmission.

BSIA

A BSIA system is used on vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission. This system prevents the transmission selector lever from moving out of the PARK position unless the brake pedal is applied. When the BSIA is de-energized, the transmission selector lever is locked in the PARK position. When the brake pedal is applied, the BSIA is energized and the transmission selector lever can be moved out of the PARK position.

SelectShift™

When the selector lever is moved to the S position , the driver can shift the transmission manually using the SelectShift™ switch mounted on the selector lever knob. To manually upshift the transmission with the selector lever in S position, press plus (+) sign on the selector lever knob. To manually downshift the transmission with the selector lever in S position, press plus minus (-) sign on the selector lever knob. In order to prevent the engine from running at too low an RPM, which may cause it to stall, the SelectShift™ will automatically make some downshifts. The SelectShift™ will still allow the driver to downshift at any time as long as the SelectShift™ determines that the engine will not be damaged from over-revving.
