REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Selector Lever Cable and Bracket

Removal

All vehicles

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to Section 100-02 .
  1. Discard the specified component. Follow local disposal regulations.

Vehicles equipped with a 5.0L (4V) engine

  1. Screwdriver.

All vehicles

  1. Screwdriver.

Installation

All vehicles

  1. NOTE: Don not connect the selector lever cable end to the manual control lever at this time.

Vehicles equipped with a 5.0L (4V) engine

All vehicles

  1. Set the selector lever in the drive (D) position.
    1. Rotate the manual control lever clockwise until it stops.
    1. Rotate the manual control lever counterclockwise 3 detents.
    1. Gently pry the latch up.
    1. Slide the lock tab downward.

  1. NOTE: After locking the adjuster, pull back on the adjuster to make sure it is securely installed.

    1. With the adjuster locking tab released, connect the selector lever cable end to the manual control lever.
    1. Slide the lock tab upward to lock the transmission selector lever cable adjustment lock.
  1. Verify that the vehicle starts in PARK and NEUTRAL only and that the reverse lamps illuminate in REVERSE.
