Transmission Draining and Filling

NOTE: When filling the transmission, start the engine and shift the transmission through all gears to eliminate any trapped air in the transmission fluid cooling system.

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to Section 100-02 .
  1. Remove the drain plug and drain the transmission.
  1. Clean the drain plug. Apply threadlock and sealer to the plug threads and install the drain plug.

  1. NOTE: Before removing the fill plug, clean the area around the fill plug.

    Remove the fill plug.
  1. Using a oil suction gun, fill the transmission with the specified fluid until it is even with the oil fill plug hole.
  1. Install the fill plug. Start the engine and shift the transmission through all the gears to eliminate any trapped air in the transmission fluid cooling system.
  1. Remove the fill plug.
  1. Using a oil suction gun, fill the transmission with the specified fluid until it is even with the oil fill plug hole.
  1. Apply threadlock and sealer to the plug threads and install the fill plug.
