Exhaust Intermediate Pipe

Removal

NOTE: Exhaust fasteners are of a torque prevailing design. Use only new fasteners with the same part number as the original. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of exhaust components.

NOTE: Discard the ball clamps after removal.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Section 100-02 .

2. Loosen the ball clamp and separate the intermediate pipe from the muffler inlet.

3. Loosen the Torca® couplers.
   • Slide the Torca® couplers on to the intermediate pipe and disconnect the intermediate pipe from the catalytic converter assembly or exhaust H-pipe.

4. Remove the intermediate pipe.

5. Remove and discard the ball clamp.

Installation

1. Position a new ball clamp on the muffler assembly.

2. Position the intermediate pipe in the vehicle.

3. NOTE: Similar catalytic converter or exhaust H-pipe shown.

   NOTE: Make sure that the catalytic converter or exhaust H-pipe is inserted into the couplers correctly.

   Slide the Torca® coupler over catalyst pipe or exhaust H-pipe and engage the coupler clip completely over the converter or H-pipe button.
   • Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).

4. Tighten the new intermediate pipe-to-muffler inlet ball clamp.
   • Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
