Interior Lighting

The interior lighting system consists of the following components:

The interior lighting system can consist of up to 3 subsystems:

Battery Saver

NOTE: Time-out is 1 minute if the vehicle has less than 80 km (50 miles).

The battery saver is internal to the SJB and provides automatic shut-off of the courtesy and demand lamp after 10 minutes in order to save battery voltage.

The SJB provides automatic shut-off of the courtesy and demand lamps after a time-out period in order to save battery voltage. A timer in the SJB is started when the ignition is turned OFF and all the doors are closed. When 10 minutes have elapsed, the voltage is automatically shut off to the lamps by the SJB . While the SJB has voltage disabled, the timer resets if any of the following occur:

Courtesy Lamps

The courtesy lamp subsystem consists of door ajar switches, the instrument panel dimmer switch and the interior dome lamp. The SJB controls the courtesy lamp by providing power to the courtesy lamp. The courtesy lighting feature requests the courtesy lamp to be illuminated when any of the vehicle doors are ajar, the UNLOCK button on the RKE transmitter is pressed or by rotating the instrument panel dimmer switch to the highest point.

Illuminated Entry

The illuminated entry requests the courtesy lamp to illuminate when the ignition is OFF and either the RKE transmitter UNLOCK button is pressed, or the vehicle is unlocked using the driver door lock cylinder. The illuminated entry requests the courtesy lamp off:

Illuminated Exit

The illuminated exit requests the courtesy lamp to illuminate for 25 seconds when all doors are closed and the ignition key is removed from the ignition lock cylinder. The illuminated exit deactivates:

Interior Lighting Delay

The interior lighting delay feature provides temporary illumination of the courtesy lamp after the doors are opened and then closed. The interior lighting delay feature keeps the courtesy lamp on for a period of 25 seconds after all the doors are closed. If during the 25-second delay time the SJB detects that the ignition has been switched out of the OFF position, or if the vehicle is locked using the RKE transmitter, the courtesy lamp illumination is discontinued.

Theater Lighting

The theater lighting feature ramps-up the courtesy lamp over 0.7 second when courtesy lamp activation is requested. The theater lighting feature ramps-down the courtesy lamp over 1.7 seconds when interior lighting deactivation is requested by any feature other than the panic alarm or battery saver.

Demand Lamps

The demand lamp is provided voltage from the battery saver relay (part of the SJB ). The SJB energizes the battery saver relay to supply voltage to the demand lamp. The lamps that are part of the demand lamp subsystem are:

Ambient Lighting

The ambient lighting system consists of the BCM-B , and the harness with hardwired LEDs located within the front and rear footwells, door map pockets, door scuff plates, console storage bin and the floor console cup holders. The cup holder lid is equipped with an ajar switch that switches on or off the cup holder ambient lighting LEDs depending on the lid position.

The ambient lighting is split up into 3 separate zones. Zone 1 consists of the door map pockets. Zone 2 consists of the front and rear footwells, storage bin and the cup holders. Zone 3 consists of the door scuff plates.

The ambient lighting is powered on when any door is opened. When any door is closed, the power is turned off and is not supplied again until the parking lamps are turned on, or the key is put in the run position.

The message center switch is used to cycle the LEDs through 132 different color combinations (7 preset colors or 125 colors created through the MyColorâ„¢ feature) or to turn the ambient lighting off. The BCM-B provides the necessary voltage to all the LEDs to illuminate the 3 different zones.
